Change the Settings of Your Captions

Enhance your video's visual appeal by customizing your captions with ClipMagic. This guide will walk you through the steps to fine-tune font styles, colors, animations, and more to match your video's aesthetic.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Click the Design tab, located in the left-hand menu, to explore various customization options for your captions.

    • Click on the "Settings" tab to access customization options.

From here, you can adjust various elements to personalize your captions and enhance their visual impact.

  1. Font Customization:

    • Choose a Font: Select a font from the available options or import your own.

    • We have fonts available in ClipMagic that you can use for your captions immediately.
      • Choose a Font: Select a font from the available options or import your own. 'Abril FatFace', 'Alannah Script', 'Alata', 'Amatic SC',' Amiri', 'Architects Daughter', and many more.

      • To find a specific font, type its name in the search box, or scroll through the list to explore all available options.



      • If you have a specific font you want to use, you can import it by clicking on the 'Import Font' button below the search box.

      • From there, simply drag and drop the font file or folder you want to import

    • Adjust your caption alignment by selecting your preferred option: 'left', 'right', or 'center'.

    • Customize your text by selecting different font styles and weights. Choose from a variety of options like 'Black', 'Black Italic', 'Bold', 'Bold Italic', 'Extra Bold', 'Extra Bold Italic', 'Extra Light', ''Extra Light Italic, 'Italic', 'Light', 'Light Italic', 'Medium', 'Medium Italic', 'Regular', 'Semi Bold', 'Semi Bold Italic', 'Thin', and 'Thin Italic'

    • Enable RTL: Support right-to-left languages if needed. Check out our article for more information about this feature.


    • Text Formatting: Experiment with different styles using the text formatting options. You can choose to have your caption in all capital letters, all lowercase letters, or with an initial capital letter followed by lowercase letters.

  1. Color Customization: Change the font color to customize the appearance of your text. Select from a range of colors to make your captions stand out and match your design theme.

    • Font Color:

      • Step 1: Click on the drop-down right beside “Text”. A window will pop out and from here, you can change the text color of the font for your captions. 

    • Highlight Color: Choose a contrasting color to emphasize specific words.

      • Step 1: Click on the drop-down menu next to 'Highlight'. A window will pop up, allowing you to change the highlight color of your captions.

  1. Caption Positioning: Choose the optimal Position for your captions—'Top', 'Center', or 'Bottom'.

  1. Animation and Effects:
    • Animate Captions: Add dynamic movement with animation options: Once clicked, the Animation features will appear. From here, you can edit the In Animation, Random Angle, and Scale Word settings. 

  1. In Animation - Add dynamic movement with animation options:
      • None: to not apply any In animation
      • Fade: Gradually appear or disappear.
      • Scale: Change the size of the caption.


  1. Random Angle: Turn on or off random rotation to add a dynamic touch.

  1. Scale Word: Turn on or off the scaling effect for the selected word.
        • When the "Scale Word" feature is enabled, additional options appear:
        • Scale Amount: Adjust from 0.5x to 1.5x.
        • Duration: Set from 0 seconds to 1 second.
        • Ease Options: Choose from 'Linear', 'Power1 In', 'Power1 Out', 'Power1 InOut', 'Power2 In', 'Power2 Out', or 'Power2 InOut'.


  1. Shadow Effects:
    • Choose Shadow Type: Select from "None," "Soft," "Regular," or "Retro."
    • Adjust Shadow Color: Pick a color for the shadow.
    • Offset: Adjust the offset from 0 px to 10 px.

  1. Spacing Customization:
    • Letter Spacing: Adjust the space between letters from -50px to 100px.
    • Word Spacing: Adjust the space between words from 0px to 20px.
    • Line Spacing: Adjust the space between lines from 1px to 100px.

  1. Border Customization:
    • Add Border: Enable or disable the border.
    • Adjust Border Width: Set the border width from 0px to 20px.
    • Choose Border Color: Select a color for the border.

  1. Highlight Customization - Adjust the settings of your highlight by selecting the Type, Color, and Shadow options.
  • Type: There are three types of highlights you can choose from: Word, Words, and Line.

    • If "Word" is selected, each word in the caption will be highlighted individually.

    • If "Words" is selected, the caption will be highlighted progressively as the words appear.

    • If "Line" is selected, the entire caption will be highlighted at once each time it appears.

  • Color: Adjust the color of your highlighted caption to match your video's style and theme.

  • Shadow: Modify the shadow settings to add depth to your highlight, enhancing its visibility and making your captions stand out. There are three shadow options available: Soft, Regular, and Retro. Choose "Soft" for a subtle effect, "Regular" for a standard shadow, or "Retro" for a more distinct, vintage look. The Retro option includes an additional Offset setting, allowing you to adjust the distance of the shadow for a more pronounced, vintage effect. You can also customize the shadow color to match your design preferences.

  1. Scaling: Adjust the size of your captions to fit different screen sizes and layouts. You can either type in a specific size or use the slider to resize your captions, ensuring they are clear and appropriately proportioned for your video.

  1. Caption Box: Customize the appearance and behavior of your caption box with two options: Word and Bounce. Adjusting these settings helps improve the visibility and impact of your captions in your video.

  • The Word option highlights each word as it appears or is highlighted. When you select the Word option, several settings become available to customize the appearance of the caption box.

Below are the settings for the Caption Box feature. You can adjust these settings to fit your video.

    • Color: Choose the color of the caption box to complement your video.
    • Animation Duration: Set the length of time the animation takes to complete, affecting how quickly or slowly the caption box appears.
    • Animation Ease: Adjust the easing effect of the animation for smoother transitions in the caption box. The options available are Linear, Power1 In, Power1 Out, Power1 InOut, Power2 In, Power2 Out, and Power2 InOut.
    • Padding Width(left and right): Define the horizontal space between the text and the edges of the caption box.
    • Padding Height(up and down): Set the vertical space between the text and the top and bottom edges of the caption box.
    • Radius: Adjust the curvature of the caption box’s corners to create rounded or sharp edges.
  • The Bounce option adds a dynamic movement effect to draw attention. As with the Word option, additional settings will appear after selecting Bounce. They have the same options except Animation Ease.

  1. Background: ClipMagic includes a customizable background feature for captions, enhancing the visual impact and readability of your text. When the caption background is enabled, you can access a variety of settings to tailor the appearance:
    • Box Color: Choose the background color to complement your content and make the text stand out. You can also adjust the opacity of the background here.
    • Border Width: Adjust the thickness of the border around the caption background to create a defined frame. Move the slider from 0 px to 20 px.
    • Border Color: Select the color of the border to match or contrast with the background and text.
    • Padding (Left and Right): Control the horizontal spacing between the text and the edges of the caption background to ensure proper alignment and readability.
    • Padding (Up and Down): Adjust the vertical spacing to keep the text centered and comfortably positioned within the caption background.
    • Border Radius: Round the corners of the caption background to give it a softer, more polished look.

These options give you the flexibility to create captions that not only convey your message but also enhance the visual appeal of your content.

  1. Other - Opacity: Adjust the slider from 0% to 100% to control the transparency of the captions, allowing you to set how much of the background shows through.

  1. Save As Preset:
    • Click "Save As Preset" to save your settings for future use.


  • By following these steps, you can create captivating and personalized captions that complement your video content. Experiment with different font styles, colors, and animations to find the perfect look for your videos. Remember, customization is key to creating a unique and engaging viewing experience for your audience.

Additional Note:

All the instructions provided for setting up captions are also accessible through the "Captions" tab, in addition to the "Design" tab mentioned earlier. When you click on the "Captions" tab, you'll find options to add emojis, followed by a list of clips for each video. You can choose any clip, and within that clip, you'll see icons for "smiley," "paintbrush," and "trashcan." By clicking on the "paintbrush" icon, the same settings options will be available for customization.


Step-by-Step Guide

Access Your Video:

  1. Start a New Project: Begin by creating a new video project in ClipMagic.

  1. Open Existing Project: If you're editing an existing video, open it in the ClipMagic editor.

Navigate to Caption Settings:

    • Locate the "Captions" Tab and Click on the "Captions" Tab this will open the caption settings panel.

Select Your Clip:

    • Choose the Specific Video Clip: Select the video clip where you want to add or customize captions. This will open the clip for editing.

Access Customization Options:

    • Click the Paintbrush Icon: Locate the paintbrush icon next to the smiley face icon on the selected clip. This will open the customization settings panel.

  • This ensures that whether you're working from the "Design" tab or the "Captions" tab, you have full access to all the tools needed to customize your captions and enhance your video's visual impact. Choose the tab that best fits your workflow, and enjoy seamless editing across the platform.
